众所周知,大部分管理类专硕(MBA/MPA/MEM等)提前面试中还包含英语听力口语测试,一般形式为英文对话,面试老师围绕着面试者的工作、学习经历、兴趣爱好等问题展开。(各院校英语口语测试流程部分,以及总体应对策略,出门左转可细读我们分享过的文章:《管理类考研复试高分策略之英语听力与口语》)
英语口语测试比较考验大家的随机应变能力,提前熟悉一下英文面试问题,可以有效减少面试压力。今天主要和大家分享一下,职业类问题的回答思路和技巧。
职业类问题类型
先看一下职业类问题长什么样子:

What do you do for a living?

Could you please describe a failure/challenge in your career?

From your perspective, which kind of organizations/companies is suitable for MBA graduates?

What are your job prospects?

What do you intend to do after you finish studying?

How do you see yourself in ten years’ time?

工作类的问题一般都很实在——比如在工作中,手机和电脑,你哪个用得更多?在过去的工作中,你最大的成就是什么?工作中,你有满足感吗?你为什么喜欢你现在的这份工作?哪里吸引你?
职业类词汇和表达积累
对于这些问题,我们首先要掌握一些常用的职业类词汇。我们给大家总结了三类:名词,动词,形容词。
另外,我们还要积累一些比较正式的表达:
1. Taking into account all these factors, we may safely draw the conclusion that it is time that we put/placed/laid considerable special emphasis on the development/change to solve this problem.
2. There is no denying (little doubt) that special (adequate/considerable/further) attention must be paid/called/devoted to the problem of……
If we ignore/fail in/are blind to the problem, it is very likely that......
3. Obviously/Clearly/Apparently, there is very little chance that unless there is an immediate action of/common realization of......
最后,就是把我们掌握的词汇,填充到这些句型和表达里面去,形成具有“职业化”的答案。
思路其实很简单,针对听力与口语测试在整个面试的分数比重较低的现实情况,我们在战略应该藐视,但战术应该重视。具体操作如下:培养语感——背诵积累——张口就来。

What’s your plan in your postgraduate study? What’s your study and working plan in the next 5 years?
I have a clear five-year plan of my study, career and family life. Regarding the study and career, if I’m lucky enough to be enrolled by your university, for the next three years, I’ll improve my economic & management ability by attending classes and self-study. I’m also going to combine the theories I learn in class with practices at work. About family life, I’ll keep up my hobbies such as reading and travelling. They think I'm cooperative because they remember the days I helped them solve the problems they faced, though it might not be my particular responsibility.
They would say that I am very insightful because they will remember how many times my analysis helped us to reveal our project.
They will say that I am very creative, because I am famous for innovative thinking. These attributes make me a good team member.
